How to make it

  • In large pot, cook sausage, ground beef, onion and garlic together
  • stir in remaining ingredients
  • simmer, covered for about 2 hours, stirring occassionally

    Good recipe! They also cook their wonderfully rich "ragù" for about 3 hours here in Italy... the longer it cooks, the better it gets, but it must have the tomato puree/paste not just the tomato pulp.

    Adding a cup of red wine to the meat like Recipe Diva suggested and letting it cook few min more before adding the other ingredients will make it that much yummier ;)

    This sounds great. I make something like this but leave out the water or add wine sometimes. I add tons of basil during cooking. Basil flavor will cook out during the cooking process so before serving I add more (fresh or dried). I love a thick sauce. Sauce is always best the next day.
