How to make it

  • Preparation:
  • Arrange sliced or diced potatoes in the bottom of a 4-to 7-quart slow cooker. Drizzle with the butter and sprinkle with about half of the salt, pepper, and thyme. Toss to coat then add the cabbage and onions. Sprinkle with remaining seasonings and top with the sausages. Pour the beer and apple cider over all and then drizzle with vinegar. Cover and cook on low setting for 8 to 10 hours (on high setting for 2 to 4 hours).
  • If using perogies cook cabbage and sausage first on high for two hrs or until done. Boil salted water and cook perogies. They are done when they float to the top. Fry the perogies in butter and add to the crock-pot at the last minute. Toss and set to low until ready to serve.
