Porky Pepper Burgers
From keni 12 years agoIngredients
- 1 1/2lbs lean ground beef shopping list
- 1 1/2lbs ground pork(not sausage, just pork) shopping list
- 1/2-1 cup diced jalapenos(I suggest using canned or jarred, and rinsed OR using fresh, but sauteing them in a lil of the bacon grease. You don't want chunks of raw peppers in these :) shopping list
- 8oz VERY cold cream cheese, grated(I stuck mine in the freezer for about 10 minutes, and I highly recommend that) shopping list
- 1/2-1t liquid smoke(hickory flavor, if possible) shopping list
- 1T worcestershire sauce shopping list
- 1 lemon, juiced shopping list
- plenty of fresh ground pepper shopping list
- 1/2lb thick cut hardwood smoked bacon, baked or fried til done as crisp as you like it shopping list
- hamburger buns(I used a soft homemade bread roll with just a tiny bit of colby cheese baked on the tops...perfect! :) shopping list
- usual burger condiments, if desired.. I had some ready, but we ended up not using any, other than using a splash of the green Tabasco, which is made from jalapenos, to increase the heat(the burgers really aren't hot) and accentuate the flavor. shopping list
How to make it
- Combine all ingredients other than bacon and rolls in large bowl.
- Mix well(just use your hands! :) to incorporate the cream cheese as much as you can.
- Form into 6-9 patties(either 1/2lb or 1/3lb each)
- Grill over high heat until burgers are done, through. They only NEED to be cooked to about 145, but we like our pork a LIL more done, so I suggest 150ish.
- Serve on the buns with strips of bacon on top!
