How to make it
- Any size platter, tray or plate. Be careful adding layers so you do not distrub the previous layers.
- Spread a layer, about 1/4 inch thick, of refried beans oven entire surface of platter..
- Spread on of layer of sour cream, covering the beans, except for about 1/4th of an inch around outside.
- Now, a layer of salsa, leaving a 1/4 ilnch on the outter edge with no salsa.
- Add a layer of shredded cheese over salsa.
- Next layer is finely shredded iceburg lettuce.
- Add the sliced jalapeno pepper layer, if you are brave enough to be using them.
- Now, the layer of small diced onion.
- Add the layer of diced avocado which have been rinsed in lime juice.
- Add another layer of shredded cheese.
- A layer of diced tomatoes is next.
- Finish with a layer of sliced black olives.
- To finish off the platter, I add small dollops of sour cream scattered around on top of everything and sprinkle with a layer of sliced green onions.
- Be sure to dice then rinse the avocado in lime juice, or lemon juice to prevent the avocado from turning black.
- Serve the Platter Dip with chips, crackers, veggies near by for dipping directly off the platter. And no double dipping.
- If you use fat-free refried beans and fat-[free sour cream your dip would count as a low-fat, quite healthy dip..
- If you would like, a layer of cooked, seasoned ground meat can be added after the refried bean layer.
- If you want to change any layer or add another layer or remove a layer, this recipe is so versitile you can change it anyway to personalize to your own tastes.
