Canned Beans Dressed Up With Someplace To Go

- 2 - 28 oz cans of baked beans (like Bush’s) shopping list
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar (I had light on hand so that’s what I used) shopping list
- 1 medium yellow onion, chopped shopping list
- 3/4 cup root beer (not diet) shopping list
- 1/2 cup ketchup shopping list
- 2 Tbs prepared mustard shopping list
- 2 tsp worcestershire sauce shopping list
- 5 or 6 slices of bacon, cooked and cut into 1/2" pieces (sister loves bacon so I use a lot!) shopping list
How to make it
- Drain off the excess liquid from the cans of beans. No need to put them in a colander – just tip the cans and let the excess liquid run out.
- Put all the ingredients into a pot. Simmer over medium-low heat for 30 to 40 minutes until the onions get soft. I served these the next day so they sat in the refrigerator overnight, but they can be eaten right away as well.
