Hungarian Goulash

- 2 lbs beef cubed shopping list
- 4 tablespoons mild paprika shopping list
- 2 onions diced shopping list
- 2 carrots chunked shopping list
- 2 ribs celery chopped shopping list
- 1 large red bell pepper shopping list
- 1 large garlic clove minced shopping list
- 1 cup red wine shopping list
- 1 tsp caraway seed shopping list
- 2 tomatoes diced or 1 large can peeled shopping list
- 1 and half tsp salt shopping list
- ground pepper to taste shopping list
- half a dried chili shopping list
- 3 large potatoes cut in chunks shopping list
- 2 tablespoons olive oil lard or butter shopping list
How to make it
- add butter and chopped onions to a large pot or dutch oven
- cook onions until tender
- add paprika and when stirred in quickly dump in 1 cup cold water to prevent bitter taste from forming
- add all other ingredients and then add water to just cover them
- simmer until meat is tender. readjust seasonings if needed
- i cooked it covered for a bit then uncovered for 45 min to reduce it some
- serve with bread, noodles, dumplings or rice
