Ingredients
  • I Cup Dates, chopped
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 Cup hot water
  • 1 Cup Black Walnuts, finely chopped
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • ½ Stick of Butter
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 Cups Flour
  • Pinch of Salt

Directions
  1. Pour hot water over baking soda and dates. Let stand until remaining ingredients are mixed. Cream butter and sugar and incorporated eggs one at a time. Mix in dates and water. Add flour and salt. When mixed well, add the black walnuts. Bake 325 oF for 1 ½ hours.

My grandmother used to make this for us. We used to spread the "bread" with butter. Nice to see it again, I had lost my recipe. Thanks for th reminder!!!
