This was great! However, I made some changes. I pre-cooked dry kidney, great northern and pinto beans - omitted black because I forgot them. I used homemade refried beans. I also omitted the celery, basil, tomatoes and chipotle. Only used half a pound of ground beef and cooked it with cumin, black pepper and chili powder instead of adding at the end. Thank you for sharing!

This is regular chili and as you know re-fried beans are very pasty and already seasoned with spices and fat, so they add more flavor and some creamy texture than do plain whole beans!
It's like making potato salad- a ton of recipes for the same thing yet the textures, flavors differ slightly and yet they are all the same in a way!

  • sosousme 8 years ago do the refried beans add to this as opposed to regular chili?
