Korean Fried Chicken

- 8 chicken thighs, chopped into two shopping list
- 1 onion, grated (use largest hole on the grater) shopping list
- 2 cloves garlic, minced and crushed into a paste shopping list
- 1 tsp ginger powder shopping list
- For the Batter: shopping list
- ¼ cup flour shopping list
- ¼ cup cornstarch shopping list
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper shopping list
- 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar shopping list
- 3/4 cup chilled water shopping list
- For the Sauce: shopping list
- ½ cup Korean chile paste (gojuchang) shopping list
- 1/4 cup honey shopping list
- ¼ cup ketchup shopping list
- 4 cloves garlic, crushed shopping list
- 1 tbsp soy sauce shopping list
- 1/4 cup toasted white sesame seeds shopping list
- 2 to 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice shopping list
How to make it
- Combine the grated onion, garlic, ginger powder, salt, and pepper in bowl. Add the chicken and coat well. Cover with plastic wrap and set aside to marinate at room temperature for at least an hour.
- Mix all ingredients for the sauce and set aside.
- Mix all ingredients for the batter together. Set aside
- Heat oil in a deep dish. Drain excess marinade from chicken and fry them in batches of 6. Drain on paper towels.
- Reheat oil. Refry the fried chicken till crisp. Drain once more on the paper towels.
- Coat the chicken in the sauce and serve hot!!!!
