Gooseberry Chutney Recipe

Ingredients

How to make it

  • Chop berries roughly.
  • Chop onions finely and cook with the berries in the water until they are well softened.
  • Add remaining ingredients and simmer until chutney becomes thick stirring occasionally.
  • Bottle while hot and cover immediately.

    I have the same problem. They are hard to find but I have been lucky in that some specialty markets are here have gooseberries occasionally.

    You know growing up in KY there were Gooseberry bushes everywhere, berries always waiting to be enjoyed. I have NEVER run across a single gooseberry here in the Northwest Mountains of NJ. Any suggestions?
