Ingredients
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • A 4 ounce can California green chiles, seeded and chopped (optional)
  • A 16 ounch can cream-style corn
  • 1/2 cup shredded mild cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup sifted flour
  • 1 cup yellow corn meal
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Cream butter and sugar.
  3. Add eggs, one at a time, while mixing well.
  4. Add chiles (optional), corn, and cheese, mix well.
  5. Sift flour and corn meal together with baking powder and salt.
  6. Add to corn mixture and blend well.
  7. Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan.
  8. Place in oven and immediately reduce heat to 300F.
  9. Bake for 1 hour.
  10. Realize you just made the best cornbread ever.
