Ingredients

How to make it

  • 1. Combine candy and butter in medium saucepan over medium heat. While candy and butter are melting, prepare batter.
  • 2. Cake Batter: Cream ½ cup butter or margarine and sugar until mixture is light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each stirring until smooth. Slowly add flour and baking soda, mix well. Add buttermilk and continue mixing. Add melted candy, mix well. Stir in vanilla and nuts*. Pour batter into greased and floured bundt, angel food or loaf pan(s).
  • 3. Bake at 350 degrees 1 hour and 20 minutes or until tested with toothpick. If using a bundt pan or angle food pan, recommend checking cake after 1 hour and adjust time accordingly. Test with a toothpick or knife blade, should come out nearly clean, but will show moisture and maybe a little cake. The cake is very moist due to the melted candy bars. (If using bread loaf size pans. It will take two. Fill just over half full) Bake for 35 to 45 minutes. Until toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean.
  • 4. Remove from oven and cool a few minutes and then remove from pan. Invert bundt pan or angle food pan on rack and let cake come out naturally. After cooling refrigerate until chilled as it will slice much better. This slices like a pound cake and freezes well in zip loc bags.
  • Notes: The original recipe called for 13 FUN size milky way candy bars. but they don't sell those anymore so searched this on the web. each Fun size candy bar is .6 ounces. so hopefully my math is correct.

Wow what a great cake really moist. I used Mars Bars as I could not find Milky Way Bars. I baked in a 9x13 pan and the cake was done at 30 minutes. Will be making again for sure. Thank you Semi for sharing this wonderful recipe.
