Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

- 2 pounds ground beef shopping list
- 1/2 cup seasoned italian breadcrumbs shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 1 clove garlic, minced shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper shopping list
- Gravy: shopping list
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced shopping list
- 1 onion, cut in half lengthwise, then sliced into thin strips shopping list
- 1 packet onion soup mix shopping list
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups beef stock shopping list
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley chopped (optional) shopping list
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar (optional) shopping list
How to make it
- In a medium bowl, mix together ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, garlic, salt & pepper).
- Form into 6 uniformly shaped patties about 1/2 inch thick.
- In a large non-stick skillet brown patties on medium-high heat for about 2 - 3 minutes on each side.
- Gently transfer browned hamburger patties to the slow cooker.
- Gravy:
- Place mushrooms and onions on top of the beef patties.
- In a small bowl, mix together the rest of the gravy ingredients (onion soup mix, flour, beef stock, parsley, and balsamic vinegar, if using). Whisk until the flour is dissolved.
- Pour gravy mixture over beef patties, onion, and mushrooms.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 5 to 6 hours.
- Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles. Sprinkle with additional fresh parsley to make it pretty.
- Recipe Notes:
- Turn this recipe into an appetizer! Instead of forming the ground beef mixture into 6 patties, roll it into about 30 meatballs. Brown the meatballs briefly in a frying pan and following the rest of the recipe directions for delicious little salisbury meatballs made in your slow cooker!
