Route 66 Home Made Dinner Rolls

- 1/2 cup shortening shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 2 cups homogenized milk shopping list
- 1/2 cup mashed potatoes shopping list
- 1 cake yeast shopping list
- 2 tablespoons warm water shopping list
- 2 eggs beaten shopping list
- 4 cups sifted flour shopping list
- 2 tablespoons baking powder shopping list
- 1 tablespoon baking soda shopping list
- 2 tablespoons salt shopping list
- 2 cups sifted flour shopping list
How to make it
- Warm shortening, sugar and milk in saucepan until shortening is melted.
- Add mashed potatoes and cool.
- Dissolve yeast in warm water and add to beaten eggs.
- Add this to the first mixture.
- Sift flour with baking powder, soda, and salt.
- Stir liquid mixture into these dry ingredients.
- Put into large bowl and let rise in warm surroundings to twice bulk.
- Cover overnight with light cloth.
- The next morning add remaining flour and knead until satiny.
- Put the dough in a greased bowl and let rise in warm surroundings.
- Knead on lightly floured board.
- Form into rolls then place on a greased pan and let stand 5 minutes in warm surroundings until double in size.
- Bake 15 minutes at 425.
