Hot And Spicey Rice Recipe
This is a seasoned rice that makes a great side dish. This recipe makes 2 cups of cooked rice, but can easily be doubled.

Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup green pepper, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh tomato, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chopped onion
  • 2 medium gloves of garlic, minced
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 2/3 cups water
  • 2/3 cup raw long-grain rice
  • 1/2 tespoons crushed oregano leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, more to give more spice

Directions
  1. In a medium saucepan, cook green peppers, tomato and onion with garlic in oil until tender-crisp.
  2. Add remaining ingredients.
  3. Bring to a boil, cover.
  4. Reduce heat to low, cook 25 minutes or until liquid is absorbed.
  5. May stir to prevent sticking.
  6. Sprinkle with additonal seasoning if desired.

I have to agree. Hot and rice in one recipe. Yowza. This will be on my dinner table this week for sure. Thanks for a great post.


Just made this it came out quite good even though I had to substitute marjoram and thyme for the oragano and it needed salt. Easy and did not take so long to cook using Basmati rice. Will make it again
