How to make it

  • Prepare cake as a sheet cake.
  • Use 1/2 cup less milk in pudding.
  • Cool cake and split lengthwise.
  • Place bottom half back in baking pan or in large baking dish.
  • Combine pudding, cream cheese, and 1/2 of cool whip; spread over bottom half of cake.
  • Place top half of cake over this mixture.
  • Spread remaining cool whip over cake.
  • Top with pie filling; marble with butter knife.
  • Variations:
  • chocolate cake with cherry pie filling.
  • white cake with any pie filling
  • pineapple cake with 1 can drained crushed pineapple mixed with pudding mixture, top with coolwhip and toasted coconut.
