How to make it

  • Chop & peel the apples, put into a saucepan with a small amount of water and stew until slightly soft.
  • Add in the blackberries and the sugar and stir for about 30 seconds.
  • Pour into a oven proof dish that you wish to make your crumble in.
  • In a mixing bowl, sieve the flour, add the sugar and stir.
  • Add the butter bit by bit and rub in using the rubbing in method until it looks like bread crumbs.
  • Tip the crumble mixture ontop of the fruit mixture in the dish until all the mixture is used up.
  • Place into a pre-heated oven of 180 degrees for 20-30 minutes.
  • Serving sugestions: Pour cream or natural yogurt over the top when served.

I am making this, being from the Pacific Northwest I'm surrounded by Blackberry bushes and our freezer is full of blackberries that need to be used up. I might just go get some fresh ones though for this recipe.

    Thanks for the share.

The combination of apples and blackberries sounds like an amazing one. I can't wait to try it when apples come into season here.
