Red Lentil Daal

- 250 g red lentils,washed shopping list
- 3 tsp curry powder shopping list
- 1 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/4 tsp turmeric shopping list
- 4 1/2 cups hot water shopping list
- 1 tbsp oil shopping list
- 2 medium onions,finely chopped shopping list
- 3 small tomatoes,each cut into 6 pieces shopping list
How to make it
- Place the lentils,curry powder,salt,turmeric and water in a large saucepan.
- Bring to the boil,then reduce heat to a fast simmer for 30-40 minutes,or until the lentils are tender and the moisture reduced.
- Heat the oil in a large frying pan and stir-fry onions until tender.
- Add tomatoes and cook for a further 2 minutes.
- Add the lentils and cook for a further 3-4 minutes,until the daal is heated through.
- Serve over fried/boiled rice,or with chappati.
