- 4 eggs separated shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1 cup refined sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds shopping list
- 1/2 cup shortening shopping list
- 2 tablespoon refined sugar shopping list
- 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar shopping list
- 3 tablespoon milk shopping list
- 1 cup all purpose flour sifted shopping list
- 1 teaspoon baking powder shopping list
How to make it
- Heat oven to 325F. Grease and flour 2 layer 8x1-1/2 pans
- Beat egg whites until foamy, beat in the cup of refined sugar, 1
- tablespoon at a time; continue beating until stiff and glossy, do not underbeat, but watch carefully the gloss. Set aside.
- Blend shortening, confectioners' sugar, egg yolks, and milk on low,
- scraping the bowl constantly, Add flour, baking powder and salt, beat 1 minute at medium, scraping bowl ocasionally.
- Spread in pans
- Over each pan spread the meringue, almonds and remaining 2 tablespoon sugar.
- Bake 35 to 40 minutes Cool
- For assemblying, sandwich the two together so that you have 1 meringue layer in center and 1 in top. Enjoy
