- 1 lb dried figs shopping list
- 1 cup raisins shopping list
- 1 tbsp orange zest shopping list
- ½ cup chopped walnuts shopping list
- 1 cup honey shopping list
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon shopping list
- 2/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips shopping list
- 1 cup orange marmalade shopping list
- 2 1/2 cups sifted flour shopping list
- 1/2 cup white sugar shopping list
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 cup shortening shopping list
- 2 eggs, beaten shopping list
- 1/4 cup skim milk shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Grease two baking sheets.
- Grind the figs, raisins, orange zest and walnuts in a food processor.
- Gradually blend in the honey, cinnamon, chocolate chips and orange marmalade. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar and baking powder.
- Cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the eggs, milk and vanilla until the mixture can be gathered into a ball.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and roll out.
- Cut the dough into strips that are 4 inches wide.
- Spread filling onto one lengthwise half of each strip.
- Fold the dough over to cover and seal the edges by pressing on them with the tines of a fork. Slice into diamond shapes about 1” wide.
- Place the cookies onto the prepared cookie sheet.
- Bake for 15 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the baking sheet to cool on wire racks.

Thank you for posting this. My aunts used to make something similar (without the chocolate) for Christmas. I will definitely be trying to make this for Christmas this year.
