Try browning plain bread crumbs in a dry pan, stirring them to prevent scorching. When nice and golden to tan brown, add butter - 2 to 1 ratio (4 T butter to 2 T crumbs), stir and pour over the dumplings. Yum

In my family we serve it with the buttered bread crumbs poured over it. When done right it's sinful.
