This is how I make my ranch dressing. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. I leave out the MSG when I make it because of the health risk factors but wanted to print it exactly as I found it from a very old magazine.

Ingredients

1 cup mayonnaise shopping list
1 cup buttermilk shopping list
4 teaspoons dry mix shopping list
Dry Mix: shopping list
1-1/2 tablespoons salt shopping list
2 teaspoons msg shopping list
2 teaspoons dry parsley flakes shopping list
1 teaspoon garlic powder shopping list
1 teaspoon black pepper shopping list
1/2 teaspoon onion powder shopping list

How to make it

Mix all dry ingredients and store in an airtight jar.
To make dressing combine mayonnaise, buttermilk and 4 teaspoons dry mix together and mix well. Store in refrigerator.

++++This was delicious! I didnt add the msg ( as listed)only the 1 1/2 t salt. I will use the msg (accent) next time++ Thanks for sharing Chefmeow+++

I will only have homemade dressings....I think they taste 100% better. And I love Ranch !yum

Thanks for the recipe! DO add the MSG (Acc'ent) -it makes a huge difference. Not sure when you posted this, but there have been several studies that have negated the earlier bad press about MSG. Even if not the case, how much could it hurt you on such a limited basis? This was the best dressing ever!! And to "courtbot" - Miracle Whip (yuk) is NOT mayo... lol

MSG is a neurotoxin. It breaks the blood brain barrier. It causes the cells in the brain to rupture. Look it up... The book Excitotoxins gives lots of information.

What type of mayonnaise do you use in this recipe? Miracle Whip or Hellman's type? I will eat ANYTHING as long as there's ranch on it! thanks for the post!
