How to make it

  • Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and
  • beat well. Stir in mincemeat. Sift together flour, salt, soda and
  • spices. Add gradually to first mixture, stirring well after each
  • addition. Add walnuts.
  • Shape dough into 2 rolls about 2 inches in diameter. Wrap in waxed
  • paper. Chill until firm. Slice about 1/4 inch thick with thin sharp
  • knife.. Place on ungreased baking sheets (I use parchment paper on my baking sheets). Bake in preheated oven at 375 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.

  • Mel's notes: 12/19/05 - These are wonderful! The dough will get sticky as it warms up.

    Thanks for sharing! I used to always keep a roll of refrigerator cookie dough in my freezer for those "unexpected need a dessert moments".
