Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1-1/2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup scalded milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 5 egg yolks
  • 4 tablespoons sugar divided
  • 6 egg whites
  • Grand mariner liqueur as needed
  • Whipped cream as needed

Directions
  1. Melt butter then add flour and cook until golden.
  2. Add scalded milk and cook until thick.
  3. Cook 5 minutes stirring constantly then add vanilla.
  4. Beat egg yolks with 3 tablespoons sugar and combine with the cream sauce.
  5. Beat egg whites stiff then add remaining sugar.
  6. Fold in half the egg whites then the other half.
  7. Pour into a buttered and slightly sugared casserole and bake at 400 for 20 minutes.
  8. Serve with 2 tablespoons grand mariner added to 2 tablespoons whipped cream.
