How to make it

  • Use a small glass to cut a whole in the center of bread. Butter both sides of the bread. Over medium heat in a nonstick pan sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Toast bread until golden then turn over and toast other side. After toasted while heat is still on crack egg and deposit into center of the bread. Cook until white is firm on bottom then flip egg toast combination over and cook 2 minutes.

    I made these for my sons all the time. When I was a little girl, I went to a camp where during a real camp-out in the woods, the Counselors would make these for all of the campers on top of the bottoms of coffee cans.. Ah, thanks for the memories with this recipe, Chefmeow!

    "Toads in a hole" is what we call these! We ridiculously "sass them up", but I like this because anyone that's never had them, has no idea what they are missing.
