Around here, these meatballs are at every potluck dinner that is held. They're easy to make with basic ingredients and they're one of my comfort foods.

Ingredients
  • 1 ½ lb hamburger
  • 1 T chili powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 t garlic powder, divided
  • 2/3 c milk
  • 1 c oatmeal
  • 3/4 c chopped onion, divided
  • 1 t salt
  • ¼ t pepper
  • 1 c ketchup
  • 1 c brown sugar
  • 1 T liquid smoke

Directions
  1. Mix hamburger, chili powder, egg, 1/4 t garlic powder, milk, oatmeal, 1/2 c chopped onion, salt and pepper together in large bowl.
  2. Form mixture into 2 inch meatballs
  3. Place in 9 x 13 baking pan
  4. Mix ketchup, 1/4 t garlic powder, 1/4 c chopped onion and brown sugar together.
  5. Pour over meatballs.
  6. Bake for 1 hour at 350 deg F.
