Apple Cake With Caramel Sauce

- CAKE: shopping list
- 2 c sugar shopping list
- ½ c butter,softened shopping list
- 2 eggs, beaten shopping list
- 2 c flour shopping list
- 1 t baking soda shopping list
- 1 T cinnamon shopping list
- ½ t nutmeg shopping list
- 1 t salt shopping list
- 1 c pecans, chopped shopping list
- 6 baking apples (or enough to make 4 c chopped) shopping list
- SAUCE: shopping list
- ½ c unsalted butter shopping list
- 1 c packed light brown sugar shopping list
- ½ t salt shopping list
- ½ c evaporated milk. shopping list
- 1 ½ t vanilla extract shopping list
How to make it
- Cream sugar and butter.
- Add the beaten eggs; mix well.
- In small bowl, combine flour, soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.
- Add flour mixture to first mixture; mix well. Batter will be extremely stiff.
- Peel and chop the apples. Stir them into the batter along with the chopped pecans.
- Spread in greased 9x13 pan.
- Bake 45 min – 1 hour at 300 deg.
- For Sauce:
- In a 4-cup glass measure or deep bowl, microwave butter on high for 45-60 sec to melt.
- Whisk in brown sugar and evaporated milk until smooth.
- Microwave on High for 2-2 ½ min until bubbly and slightly thick, stirring once.
- Stir in vanilla.
- Serve warm over cake.
