How to make it

  • Cream sugar and butter.
  • Add the beaten eggs; mix well.
  • In small bowl, combine flour, soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.
  • Add flour mixture to first mixture; mix well. Batter will be extremely stiff.
  • Peel and chop the apples. Stir them into the batter along with the chopped pecans.
  • Spread in greased 9x13 pan.
  • Bake 45 min – 1 hour at 300 deg.
  • For Sauce:
  • In a 4-cup glass measure or deep bowl, microwave butter on high for 45-60 sec to melt.
  • Whisk in brown sugar and evaporated milk until smooth.
  • Microwave on High for 2-2 ½ min until bubbly and slightly thick, stirring once.
  • Stir in vanilla.
  • Serve warm over cake.
