How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350.F
  • In a medium bowl mix flour, sugar and baking powder.
  • Blend in butter, egg and vanilla.
  • Divide dough in four parts. Shape each in a roll, (like a fat snake) about 1-inch in diameter.
  • Arrange, 4 inches apart, on ungreased baking sheets.
  • With handle of wooden spoon make an indentation a little less than 1/2-inch deep down center of each roll.
  • Fill indentation with jelly or jam.
  • Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Lift each section carefully onto cutting bord. Cut crosswise ino bars 1-inch wide.
  • Cool on wire racks. Store in airtight container
