Ingredients

How to make it

  • Crust:
  • Whisk sugar, eggs and butter together.
  • Sift dry ingredients together.
  • Mix everything together.
  • Spoon the dough in a 1,5 litre greased pie dish.
  • Bake by 220 degrees C (420 degrees F).
  • Filling:
  • 1. Boil milk, butter together.
  • 2. Whisk the eggs, sugar and salt together and stir in with milk.
  • 3. Sift dry ingredients together.
  • 4. Remove from stove and stirr dry ingredients gradually in.
  • Return to lower heat and keep on stirring till thick and creamy.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Stirr in vanilla.
  • Pour over crust.
  • Sprinkle cinnamon over tart.
  • Put in fridge until totally cooled down.
  • Yummy!!

    My friend from South Africa makes Milk Tarts when we all get together, they are out of this world.She also introduced me to Lychee Nuts(believe that's the correct spelling). During the summer their is a small window when you can have your local produce store order them .

    This is a true South African favorite!

    I miss this one lots...
    It is really good for tea time or when you have guests. Not too sweet, custardy flavor with melt in your mouth texture. Really yummy!!
