Ingredients
  • 375 ml self raising flour (1 + 1/2 cup)
  • 1 ml sout (1/4 teaspoon)
  • 10 ml baking powder (1 tablespoon)
  • 625 ml cooked, minced pumpkin (2 1/2 cups)
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • oil for deep frying
  • Sauce:
  • 320 ml brown sugar (1 1/2 cups)
  • 125 ml boiling water (1/2 cup)
  • 250 ml milk (1 cup)
  • 50 ml corn starch (4 heaped tablespoons)
  • few cinnamon sticks

Directions
  1. Sift dry ingredients togeher for the dough.
  2. Stirr in the pumpkin.
  3. Stirr in the eggs.
  4. Deepfry spoonfull of the dough.
  5. Drain on brown paper.
  6. Place in a bowl.
  7. Sauce:
  8. Bring everything to the boil, except the maizena.
  9. Cook for 2 minutes.
  10. Take out the cinnamon sticks.
  11. Make a pasta with the maizena and a little bit of water.
  12. Stirr into the sauce until thickened.
  13. Pour over fritters.
