Old South Cabbage Slaw Recipe
Cole slaw is a basic side dish in the South.I love it with just about everything.

Ingredients
  • Dressing
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup crisco oil
  • 2 tspns.dry mustard
  • 1 1/2 tspns. celery seed, crushed
  • 1/2 tspns. salt
  • 1/4 tspns pepper
  • Combine sugar ,vinegar and oil,simmer 5 mins. over medium heat.Stir in dry mustard,celery seed,salt and pepper.Cool
  • 1 head cabbage ,(about 2 lbs.)shredded
  • ! small red onion,peeled,halved and thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper,coarsely chopped

Directions
  1. Place cabbage,onion and bell pepper in a very lg. glass bowl.
  2. Add dressing
  3. Toss to coat vegetables.
  4. Cover
  5. Refigerate at least 4 hrs.,stirring occasionally.
  6. Drain before serving.
