Gruszki w Karmelu Polish pears in caramel

- 4 pears shopping list
- 1 cup superfine sugar (lacking this run some granulated sugar through your food processor to make superfine, if using a blender do not let the sugar get too hot while grinding or it will melt) shopping list
- 2 cups dechlorinated water (to dechlorinate water let stand in an open container overnight for the chlorine to evaporate) shopping list
How to make it
- Remove peel from the pears and keep on the side.
- Remove stalk and core the pears
- In a small pan over very low heat, cook the sugar until it is golden, stirring constantly (note melted sugar is extremely hot and will burn you badly be careful and don;t walk away from it, sugar goes from golden brown to burnt in a matter of seconds)
- pour water into another pan
- add the peels and boil for 10 minutes
- discard the peels and gradually pour the water into the sugar mixture
- poach the pear halves in this syrup until soft
- serve cold but not chilled or warm w/ice cream
