How to make it

  • Combine the milk, coconut milk, and sugar in a large saucepan and bring to a boil. Stir in the rice, and simmer over a low heat until the rice becomes tender and the mixture has thickened, around 20 minutes.
  • Add in the cardamom, raisins, and rose water (if desired); cook for a few minutes more. Ladle the pudding into serving bowls, and garnish with almonds and pistachios on top. Serve.

    I love kheer and this sounds as good as any that I have had. Rose water is a key ingredient for this to be an excellent dessert.
