What I can say about these muffins other than they are heavenly, decadent, sinful and awesome all wrapped into one. They are easy to make yet so full of flavor, you won't believe how moist and flavorful these delights are. Enjoy.

Ingredients
  • 1-1/4 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/3cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 lightly beaten egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 cup lightly salted butter melted and cooled
  • 1/3 cup semisweet chocolate chips chopped
  • Topping:
  • 6 ounces softened cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 lightly beaten egg
  • 1/8 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/4 cup toasted slivered almonds

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 then prepare pans.
  2. In a large bowl stir together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt.
  3. In another bowl stir together buttermilk, oil, butter, egg and vanilla until blended.
  4. Add dry mix to wet mix until just combined.
  5. Stir in chips and spoon into tins.
  6. In a medium bowl stir together cream cheese, sugar, egg and almond extract until well blended.
  7. Stir in almonds and spoon over muffins.
  8. Bake for 25 minutes.
