Molasses Sugar Cookies Recipe
This is an old recipe from my Great Grandmother Johnson. We make them every year during the Holidays and those that have never had them love them and ask for the recipe.

Ingredients
  • 2-1/4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cups oleo
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • Sugar in bowl for coating balls

Directions
  1. Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and salt in a bowl.
  2. Melt oleo over low heat and cool.
  3. Beat in 1 cup of sugar, the molasses, and egg.
  4. Add dry ingredients; mix well.
  5. Shape dough into balls, using a rounded teaspoon for each
  6. Roll balls in sugar and place on lightly greased baking sheet
  7. Bake at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes
