How to make it

  • Combine sour cream, sugar and vanilla in heavy 4-6 qt saucepan or iron skillet
  • Cook over medium to medium-high heat until mixture reaches soft-ball stage (234 degrees on candy thermometer)
  • Stir frequently while cooking to prevent scorching
  • Add pecans and stir until evenly coated
  • Turn onto lightly greased baking sheets, separating nuts with 2 forks
  • When completely cooled, store in airtight container
