Ingredients
  • 4 cups yogurt, plain
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh basil, or 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • another way:
  • i/4 cup flat parsley
  • 1/4 cup cilantro or white onion
  • 4 cups yogurt plain
  • salt to taste
  • in this case you blend it by hand
  • another way with dill:
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup fresh dill, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • salt and pepper

Directions
  1. Strain the yogurt through cheesecloth overnight (if the yogurt is too thin) if not just mix it as is
  2. Place all ingredients in a blender; then blend for a few moments.
  3. Place in a serving bowl and chill.
  4. Serve as a dip with Arabic (pita) bread.
  5. to serve it with dill:
  6. Add the chopped herbs and lemon juice to the thickened yogurt.
  7. Mix well and season with salt and pepper to taste.
