Ingredients

How to make it

  • Heat milk and butter to scalding; cool to lukewarm.
  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
  • Add cooled milk, sugar, mustard and salt.
  • Stir in potato granules, cheese and enough flour to make a soft dough.
  • Knead on floured surface about 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and satiny.
  • Place in greased bowl; cover and let rise in warm place until light and doubled in bulk, about 45 to 60 minutes. Punch down, divide in half and shape into 2 loaves.
  • Place in 2 well greased 9"x5" loaf pans. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds.
  • Let rise again until doubled in size, 30 to 45 minutes.
  • Bake in a 375ºF oven, 45 to 50 minutes, until deep golden brown.
