Potato Cheese Loaves

- 1 cup milk shopping list
- 2 tbsp. softened butter shopping list
- 2 pkg. dry yeast shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups warm water shopping list
- 2 tbsp. sugar shopping list
- 2 tbsp prepared yellow mustard shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1/4 cup instant mashed potato granules shopping list
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese shopping list
- 6 to 7 cups flour shopping list
- 1 egg, slightly beaten shopping list
- sesame or poppy seeds shopping list
How to make it
- Heat milk and butter to scalding; cool to lukewarm.
- In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
- Add cooled milk, sugar, mustard and salt.
- Stir in potato granules, cheese and enough flour to make a soft dough.
- Knead on floured surface about 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and satiny.
- Place in greased bowl; cover and let rise in warm place until light and doubled in bulk, about 45 to 60 minutes. Punch down, divide in half and shape into 2 loaves.
- Place in 2 well greased 9"x5" loaf pans. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds.
- Let rise again until doubled in size, 30 to 45 minutes.
- Bake in a 375ºF oven, 45 to 50 minutes, until deep golden brown.
