Chocolate Pears in Rasperry Sauce

- chocolate sauce: shopping list
- 2 1/2 tbsp sugar shopping list
- 2 1/2 tbsp unsweetened baking cocoa shopping list
- 2 tbsp water shopping list
- 2 tbsp corn syrup shopping list
- 1/2 tsp vanilla shopping list
- Raspberry Sauce: shopping list
- 1 1/4 cups frozen unsweetened raspberries, thawed shopping list
- 2 1/2 tbsp sugar shopping list
- 1/2 tsp cornstarch shopping list
- Pears: shopping list
- 6 Ripe pears shopping list
- 3 cups water shopping list
- 3 tbsp lemon juice shopping list
- 1/2 large vanilla bean, split shopping list
How to make it
- For the chocolate sauce, combine sugar and baking cocoa in a saucepan and mix well.
- Stir in the water and corn syrup until smooth.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring comstantly.
- Remove form the heat and stir in the vanilla.
- Pour into a bowl and cover; chill until serving time
- For the raspberry sauce, combine the raspberries and sugar in a saucepan.
- Cook over medium-low heat for 3 minutes or until the sugar dissolves, stirring constantly.
- Strain the mixture and return to the sauscepan.
- Stir in the cornstarch.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Boil for 1 minute or until slightly thickened.
- Pour into a bowl and cover.
- Chill until serving time.
- For the pears, slice 1/4 inch from the bottom of each pear to make it stand upright.
- Peel and core from the bottom, leaving the stem intact
- Bring the water, lemon juice and vanilla bean to a boil in a heavy saucepan over medium heat.
- Stand the pears in the liquid and reduce the heat.
- Simmer,covered, for 20 min. or until the pears are tender.
- Remove from liquid and cool.
- To serve,place 1 tbsp raspberry sauce on each dessert plate.
- Stand 1 pear in the raspberry sauce and drizzle with 1 tbsp of the chocolate sauce.
