Loaded Au Gratin Potatoes Recipe
Kicked up au gratin potatoes - very simple to make.

Ingredients
  • 1 box (4.9 oz) au gratin potato mix (I use Betty Crocker)
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup half-and-half
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked, crumbled
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack or Cheddar cheese (4 oz)
  • 1/4 cup sliced green onions (4 medium)
  • 1/4 tsp coarse ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup plain bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Directions
  1. Heat oven to 375°F.
  2. In 2-quart casserole, mix potatoes, sauce mix, boiling water, half-and-half and butter.
  3. Stir in bacon, cheese, onions and pepper.
  4. Bake uncovered 25 minutes.
  5. In small bowl, mix bread crumbs and butter; sprinkle over top.
  6. Bake 8 minutes longer or until topping is golden.

Au gratin potato mix? good grief, it makes my toes curl *g* - i do not u se mixes, everything is fresh and self-made in my home. try it - it is so easy and tastes so much better - aside from being healthier. really. with that recipe of yours you do not need a mix - it is terrific using thinly sliced potatoes, less water,more cream, some salt, etc. try it - you'll like it! then you will enjoy the wonderful taste of real potatoes!
