Applesauce Doughnut Puffs Recipe
These are amazing while still warm but you can also enjoy them at room temperature for about 1 week, stored in an airtight container.

Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 tbsp. oil
  • 1 1/4 cups apple sauce (homemade or bought)
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Oil for frying
  • cinnamon
  • granulated sugar

Directions
  1. Preheat oil in deep sided pot to 370ºF on thermometer.
  2. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, allspice, and salt. Beat eggs; gradually beat in brown sugar and oil. Mix in applesauce.
  3. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Drop by teaspoons into hot oil. Fry until golden brown on both sides. Drain; roll in cinnamon sugar.
