Ruby Red Velvet Cake

- Ruby Red cake shopping list
- Cream: ½ C Crisco, 1½ C white sugar, 2 eggs, 2 oz. red food color, 1 tsp vanilla shopping list
- Sift: 2 level tsp cocoa, 2 C cake flour, 1tsp salt shopping list
How to make it
- Add flour mixture into creamed ingredients alternately with 1 C buttermilk. Beat vigorously with mixer. Then add 1 tsp soda in 1 Tb vinegar. Do not beat in with beater. Just stir in with spoon, but mix well. Bake 30 min. at 350o in 2 8” or 9” greased and floured pans.
- Frosting for Red Cake:
- Cook over med-low heat until thick:
- 1 C milk
- ¼ C flour
- pinch salt
- Let cool.
- Beat until very fluffy:
- 1 C sugar
- 1 C butter (room temp.)
- Add cooled flour mixture and beat until fluffy. Split each cake layer and put frosting between and on top.
