From ambauer 16 years agoIngredients
- 2 cups Warm water shopping list
- 2 tbsp yeast shopping list
- 3 tbsp sugar shopping list
- 3 tbsp butter shopping list
- 2 teasp salt shopping list
- 5 - 7 cups flour (preferably bread flour) shopping list
How to make it
- Put warm water into bowl sprinkle sugar and yeast over water. Set sit 5 to 10 minutes until bubbly.
- Melt butter and add to water mixture.
- Using the dough hook attachment, begin incorporating the bread into the liquid, scraping down the sides of the bowl when necessary.
- Add the flour slowly, allowing the flour to be absorbed until the dough no longer sticks to the sides of bowl, but does stick slightly to the very bottom.
- Need the dough for 10 minutes. It will become less sticky and smooth.
- Form dough into a ball and place into a buttered bowl. Cover with a damp cloth or waxed paper and leave dough to rise in a warm place until it doubles in size.
- Punch down dough and divide into two pieces. Shape each piece into loaves the size of a standard bread pan. Place loaves into buttered pan and allow to rise until dough is approximately 1 inch above the rim of the pan.
- Preheat oven to 350°F while bread is rising.
- Bake bread about 35 minutes or until golden brown and loaf sounds hallow when thumped. Rub outsides of loaves with butter.
- Cool on a wire rack then slice and enjoy.
