How to make it

  • Mix all ingredients in crock pot.
  • Cover and cook on low for 10 hours.
  • Mash apples with potato masher or large fork.
  • Cook uncovered on low for 2 hours stirring occasionally until mixture is very thick.
  • Cool 2 hours.
  • Spoon apple butter into container.
  • Cover and store in refrigerator up to 3 weeks.

    Sounds easy. I love apple butter. I'm not sure exactly how my grandmother makes it, but I know she uses the same ingredients for pear butter too.
