S O S - Creamed Beef Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 stick butter/margarine
  • 1-12 oz can evaporated milk
  • 1 - 2 Tbsp flour
  • Garlic salt & Pepper - to taste

Directions
  1. Brown ground beef, drain fat.
  2. Add butter to meat, melt.
  3. Stir in 1/2 can of milk, bring to a low simmer.
  4. Add seasoning to your liking.
  5. Whisk together flour and remaining milk, making sure you removed all of the lumps.
  6. Pour flour and milk mixture into meat mixture while you continuously stir.
  7. Cook on med ium-low heat until bubbly.
  8. Serve over toast.

My Grandson loves this... so does my husband...


Ground beef for breakfast sounds weird at first but then when you think about it this is alot like sausage gravy!


This is another of your recipes that take me back to my youth! My dad loved this stuff - he was in the army air force during WWII. This is real comfort food. Think I'll make this this week. Gluten-free, of course. I'll simply substitute cornstarch for flour, measure for measure and serve on gluten-free bread. Thanks, Possum Queen!

Have you ever served this on top of mashed potatoes with peas and carrots on the side? Yum.
