Chocolate Trumpet Bars

- 3 cups quick oats shopping list
- 2-1/2 cups flour shopping list
- 1 teaspoon baking soda shopping list
- 1-1/4 teaspoons salt, divided shopping list
- 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened shopping list
- 2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed shopping list
- 2 eggs shopping list
- 4 teaspoons vanilla, divided shopping list
- 1 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk shopping list
- 1-1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips shopping list
- 2 tablespoons butter shopping list
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (I use pecans) shopping list
How to make it
- In large bowl, combine oats, flour, soda, and 1 teaspoon salt
- In mixer bowl, beat the 2 sticks butter, adding brown sugar, beat until fluffy
- Add eggs, 2 teaspoons vanilla to butter mixture, beating well
- Add dry ingredients, mixing on low speed, until smooth, and well combined
- In saucepan, heat condensed milk, chocolate chips, 2 tablespoons butter, 1/4 teaspoon salt over low heat until smooth
- Remove from heat, stir in nuts, 2 teaspoons vanilla
- Pat 2/3 of oat mixture into bottom of ungreased 15" X 10" baking dish or pan
- Spread warm chocolate mixture over dough
- Dot with remaining oat mixture, pressing gently
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes
- Cool on wire rack
- This recipe makes 96 bars

Hey these are great, I made these every year for Christmas for years, totally forgot about these little gems. The chocolate filling is to die for. Great post GF.
