Homemade Applesauce

- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar shopping list
- 3 Tablespoons lemon juice shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon dried allspice shopping list
- 3 apples, peeled, cored and grated shopping list
- 1 Tablespoon prepared white horseradish shopping list
How to make it
- Combine vinegar, lemon juice, sugar, and salt in a large non-reactive pan.
- Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
- Add allspice and apples, lower heat to medium and cook fpr 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat, add horseradish and allow sauce to cool to room temperature.
- Sauce will thicken as it cools.

- Make it ahead. You can prepare the apple sauce up to two days in advance. Cover it well and store it in the refridgerator. Remove it an hour before serving so it can reach room temperature.

- Spice it up. If you don't like horseradish, try a different taste by adding a 2-inch piece pf peeled fresh ginger in step 1. Removethe ginger in step 3, cool the sauce to room temperature and seve.

This one is very unusual. However, I like the flavor combos and will have to give it a try. Right now I'm thinking as a glaze on ham or chicken.....
