Indian Fry Bread

- 6 C all purpose flour shopping list
- 1 pkg dry yeast shopping list
- 3 tblspoon Crisco shopping list
- 3 tblsppon white sugar shopping list
- 2 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 2 1/2 cups water shopping list
- 4-6 cups peanut oil for frying shopping list
How to make it
- in a large mixing bowl, sprinkle the yeast over 6 cups of flour.
- heat 2 1/4 cups of water. dissolve the sugar, salt and crisco. reserve the remaining 1/4 cup of water.
- once the water temp is warm (not hot!), begin mixing into the flour and knead well.
- if the dough is too dry, add more reserved water, 1 tsp at a time until dough is soft but not too dry.
- cover the dough and let rise for atleast 1 hr.
- 30min before the dough is ready, begin heating the oil in a deep heavy frying pan at medium heat.
- pinch off a softball sized ball of dough and roll approx 3/16" thick.
- cut into 3-4 in squares and fry until golden brown. place on paper towlels to absorb the oil. Enjoy!
