1970 Chicken Sausage Wild Rice Recipe

Ingredients

3 cups chopped chicken

1 package Uncle Ben's Long Grain and Wild Rice (Original, longer cook time)

1/2 pound sausage

1 large onion, chopped

2 cans Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup (Healthy Request)

1 stick unsalted butter

1 tablespoon Worchestershire

! cup bread crumbs

*May add fresh, quickly sauteed mushrooms to this dish

Directions

Cook rice according to directions

Cook sausage and onion in skillet until sausage is done and onion is clear

Heat soup and butter until butter is melted

Blend well

Add Worchestershire

Place rice in a large shallow baking dish

Cover with chicken and 1/2 cup bread crumbs

Add sausage and onion to soup mixture

Pour all over chicken and rice

Sprinkle the other 1/2 bread crumbs over top

Cover dish with foil

Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes

This sounds absolutely delicious! I'm buying ingredients to cook today. Already have dinner planned, but will make it ahead of time for this week. Mixture of sausage and chicken is unique to me.

I tried this recipe tonight. It was great. Love that mixture of chicken and sausage and the wild rice makes it!! I used sharp cheddar cheese and it was great. I also had only one can of creme of mushroom soup so used a can of creme of celery soup.
