Ingredients

How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a large heavy skillet cook the onion, garlic and carrot in butter, over moderate heat, stirring, for about 5 minutes.
  • Cover and stir occassionally until the carrots are tender, about 5 more minutes.
  • Stir in salt and pepper, tabasco and balsamic vinegar and 1/3 a cup of ketchup. Cook for 1 more minute.
  • In a large bowl, combine the meats, eggs, bread crumbs, vegetables, pistachios and mixed herbs
  • Form into a loaf and put into a rectangular baking pan with 2 inch high sides.
  • Cover loaf with a few squirts of ketchup!
  • Bake meat loaf in oven for 1 hour.

    I make meatloaf when I need something that takes 2 minutes to put together ... but yours sounds way better! Going to have to try this one. Holly's rice idea is great too. I usually use oatmeal instead of breadcrumbs.

    This is a great sounding one. I have never seen one with leftover roast beef. I'll have to give this one a spin.

    There are lots of ones that just use a few ingredients that are a snap!

    First ever meatloaf..Wow! I think it must've been one of my first solids..lol
    If this one took forever you can find lots of recipes on here that throw together in a snap!

    I like to put rice in it instead of bread crumbs!!! Just add it into the mixture uncooked!
    I have found that it is really good with ground turkey burger; Less fat.
